Punjab Election: Fatehgarh Churian Assembly Constituency 2022

Fatehgarh Churian is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Gurdaspur district. People of Fatehgarh Churian voted for Punjab Assembly Election 2022 on February 20 and the result was declared on March 10.

In Punjab Assembly Election 2017, there were 1,65,312 registered voters for Fatehgarh Churian assembly seat, out of which 87,977 were male and 77,335 were female voters. 0.3% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.

What happened last time

In the Punjab Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Fatehgarh Churian constituency had 7 candidates for assembly seat contention. Fatehgarh Churian was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was a close contest with Indian National Congress's Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa winning the election upstaging Shiromani Akali Dal's Nirmal Singh Kahlon by a margin of just 1,999 votes.

The top three candidates split 98.2% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa got a total of 54,348 votes, while Shiromani Akali Dal's Nirmal Singh Kahlon secured 52,349 votes. Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Gurvinder Singh Shampura grabbed the third spot with 14,665 votes. The top three parties got 44.0%, 42.4% and 11.9% respectively.

In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa defeated Shiromani Akali Dal's Nirmal Singh Kahlon by 639 votes.
