Punjab Election: Fatehgarh Sahib Assembly Constituency 2022

Fatehgarh Sahib is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Fatehgarh Sahib district. People of Fatehgarh Sahib voted for Punjab Assembly Election 2022 on February 20 and the result was declared on March 10.

In 2017, the Fatehgarh Sahib assembly seat had 1,49,715 registered voters. Of the, 79,164 were male and 70,551 were female voters. 0.5% of votes were casted for NOTA.

What happened last time

In the 2017 Punjab Legislative Assembly Election, there were 5 candidates in the fray from Fatehgarh Sahib constituency. Fatehgarh Sahib was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Kuljit Singh Nagra won the election upstaging Shiromani Akali Dal's Didar Singh Bhatti by a margin of 23,867 votes.

The top three candidates split 98.4% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Kuljit Singh Nagra got a total of 58,205 votes, while Shiromani Akali Dal's Didar Singh Bhatti secured 34,338 votes. Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Lakhvir Singh Rai grabbed the third spot with 29,393 votes. The top three parties got 46.9%, 27.7% and 23.7% respectively.

In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Kuljit Singh Nagra defeated Shiromani Akali Dal's Prem Singh Chandumajra by 3,538 votes.
