Punjab Election: Fazilka Assembly Constituency 2022
Fazilka is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Firozpur district. Punjab Assembly Election 2022 for Fazilka was held on February 20 and the results was declared on March 10.
Fazilka assembly constituency had 1,64,320 electors in 2017, out of which 86,947 were male voters and 77,373 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.4% votes.
In the Punjab Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Fazilka constituency had 15 candidates for assembly seat contention. Fazilka was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was an extremely close fight, with Indian National Congress's Davinder Singh Ghubaya winning the election defeating Bharatiya Janata Party's Surjit Kumar Jyani by a narrow margin of 265 votes.
81.8% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Indian National Congress's Davinder Singh Ghubaya got a total of 39,276 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Surjit Kumar Jyani secured 39,011 votes. Independent candidate Rajdeep Kaur grabbed the third spot with 38,135 votes. The top three parties got 27.6%, 27.4% and 26.8% respectively.
In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Surjit Kumar Jyani outperformed independent candidate Jaswinder Singh by 1,692 votes.
