Punjab Election: Firozpur City Assembly Constituency 2022
Firozpur City is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Firozpur district. People of Firozpur City voted for Punjab Assembly Election 2022 on February 20 and the results was declared on March 10.
Firozpur City assembly constituency had 1,78,039 electors in 2017, out of which 1,01,085 were male voters and 76,954 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.5% votes.
In 2017, 11 candidates were competing for Firozpur City assembly constituency seat. Firozpur City was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was a one way contest with Indian National Congress's Parminder Singh Pinki comfortably winning the election defeating Bharatiya Janata Party's Sukhpal Singh by a huge margin of 29,587 votes.
The top three candidates split 97.8% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Parminder Singh Pinki got a total of 67,559 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Sukhpal Singh secured 37,972 votes. Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Narinder Singh grabbed the third spot with 16,202 votes. The top three parties got 54.3%, 30.5% and 13.0% respectively.
In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Parminder Singh Pinki outperformed Bharatiya Janata Party's Sukhpal Singh by 21,353 votes.
