Punjab Election: Garhshankar Assembly Constituency 2022
Garhshankar is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Hoshiarpur district. People of Garhshankar voted for Punjab Assembly Election 2022 on February 20 and the results was declared on March 10.
In Punjab Assembly Election 2017, there were 1,69,607 registered voters for Garhshankar assembly seat, out of which 88,597 were male and 81,010 were female voters. 0.7% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In the Punjab Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Garhshankar constituency had 12 candidates for assembly seat contention. Garhshankar was one of 20 seats won by the Aam Aadmi Party. It was a close contest with Aam Aadmi Party's Jai Krishan winning the election upstaging Shiromani Akali Dal's Surinder Singh Heer by a margin of just 1,650 votes.
The top three candidates split 91.3% of votes between them. Aam Aadmi Party's Jai Krishan got a total of 41,720 votes, while Shiromani Akali Dal's Surinder Singh Heer secured 40,070 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Lov Kumar Goldy grabbed the third spot with 31,909 votes. The top three parties got 33.5%, 32.2% and 25.6% respectively.
In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Shiromani Akali Dal's Surinder Singh Bhulewal Rathan defeated Indian National Congress's Lov Kumar Goldy by 6,293 votes.
