Hoshiarpur is the assembly constituency which comes under the Hoshiarpur district. It is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Punjab Assembly Election 2022 for Hoshiarpur was held on February 20 and the results was declared on March 10.
In 2017, the Hoshiarpur assembly seat had 1,76,163 registered voters. Of the, 91,961 were male and 84,202 were female voters. 0.6% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In the Punjab Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Hoshiarpur constituency had 11 candidates for assembly seat contention. Hoshiarpur was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Sunder Sham Arora won the election by upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Tikshan Sud by a margin of 11,233 votes.
The top three candidates split 95.1% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Sunder Sham Arora got a total of 49,951 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Tikshan Sud secured 38,718 votes. Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Paramjit Singh Sachdeva grabbed the third spot with 27,481 votes. The top three parties got 40.9%, 31.7% and 22.5% respectively.
In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Sunder Sham Arora defeated Bharatiya Janata Party's Tikshan Sud by 6,208 votes.
