Jalalabad is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Firozpur district. Punjab Assembly Election 2022 for Jalalabad was held on February 20 and the result was declared on March 10.
Jalalabad assembly constituency had 1,94,505 electors in 2017, out of which 1,02,237 were male voters and 92,268 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.6% votes.
In the 2017 Punjab Legislative Assembly Election, there were 11 candidates in the fray from Jalalabad constituency. Jalalabad was one of 15 seats won by the Shiromani Akali Dal. Shiromani Akali Dal's Sukhbir Singh Badal won the election upstaging Aam Aadmi Party's Bhagwant Mann by a margin of 18,500 votes.
97.4% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Shiromani Akali Dal's Sukhbir Singh Badal grabbed a total of 75,271 votes, while Aam Aadmi Party's Bhagwant Mann got 56,771 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Ravneet Singh Bittu bagged 31,539 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 44.8%, 33.8% and 18.8% respectively.
In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Shiromani Akali Dal's Sukhbir Singh Badal defeated independent candidate Hans Raj Josan by 50,246 votes.
