Kotkapura is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Faridkot district. People of Kotkapura voted for Punjab Assembly Election 2022 on February 20 and the results was declared on March 10.
In 2017, the Kotkapura assembly seat had 1,51,950 registered voters. Of the, 80,773 were male and 71,177 were female voters. 0.4% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In 2017, 8 candidates were contesting for Kotkapura assembly constituency seat. Kotkapura was one of 20 seats won by the Aam Aadmi Party. Aam Aadmi Party's Kultar Singh Sandhwan won the election by defeating Indian National Congress's Bhai Harnirpal Singh Kukku by a margin of 10,075 votes.
The top three candidates split 97.5% of votes between them. Aam Aadmi Party's Kultar Singh Sandhwan got a total of 47,401 votes, while Indian National Congress's Bhai Harnirpal Singh Kukku secured 37,326 votes. Shiromani Akali Dal's candidate Mantar Singh Brar grabbed the third spot with 33,895 votes. The top three parties got 39.0%, 30.7% and 27.9% respectively.
In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Shiromani Akali Dal's Mantar Singh Brar defeated Indian National Congress's Ripjeet Singh Brar by 18,186 votes.
