Majitha comes under the Amritsar district and it is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Majitha voted for Punjab Assembly Election 2022 on February 20 and the result was declared on March 10.
Majitha assembly constituency had 1,58,947 electors in 2017, out of which 83,943 were male voters and 75,004 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.6% votes.
In the 2017 Punjab Legislative Assembly Election, there were 10 candidates in the fray from Majitha constituency. Majitha was one of 15 seats won by the Shiromani Akali Dal. Shiromani Akali Dal's Bikram Singh Majithia won the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Sukhjinder Raj Singh (LALLI) by a margin of 22,884 votes.
The top two candidates split 89.3% of votes between them. Shiromani Akali Dal's Bikram Singh Majithia got a total of 65,803 votes, while Indian National Congress's Sukhjinder Raj Singh (LALLI) secured 42,919 votes. Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Himmat Singh Shergill secured 10,252 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 54.1%, 35.3% and 8.4% respectively.
In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Shiromani Akali Dal's Bikram Singh Majithia beat independent candidate Sukhjinder Raj Singh (LALI) by 47,581 votes.
