In 2017, the Moga assembly seat had 1,93,497 registered voters. Of the, 1,02,561 were male and 90,936 were female voters. 0.4% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In the 2017 Punjab Legislative Assembly Election, there were 12 candidates in the fray from Moga constituency. Moga was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was a close contest with Indian National Congress's Harjot Kamal Singh winning the election upstaging Aam Aadmi Party's Ramesh Grover by a margin of just 1,764 votes.
96.4% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Indian National Congress's Harjot Kamal Singh grabbed a total of 52,357 votes, while Aam Aadmi Party's Ramesh Grover got 50,593 votes. Shiromani Akali Dal's candidate Barjinder Singh Makhan Brar bagged 36,587 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 36.2%, 35.0% and 25.3% respectively.
In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Joginder Pal Jain defeated Shiromani Akali Dal's Paramdeep Singh Gill by 4,625 votes.
