Punjab Election: Mukerian Assembly Constituency 2022
Mukerian is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Hoshiarpur district. Punjab Assembly Election 2022 for Mukerian was held on February 20 and the results was declared on March 10.
In Punjab Assembly Election 2017, there were 1,92,217 registered voters for Mukerian assembly seat, out of which 99,585 were male and 92,632 were female voters. 0.5% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In the 2017 Punjab Legislative Assembly Election, there were 11 candidates in the fray from Mukerian constituency. Mukerian was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Rajnish Kumar Babbi won the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Arunesh Kumar by a margin of 23,126 votes.
82.3% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Indian National Congress's Rajnish Kumar Babbi got a total of 56,787 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Arunesh Kumar secured 33,661 votes. Independent candidate Jangi Lal Mahajan grabbed the third spot with 20,542 votes. The top three parties got 42.1%, 25.0% and 15.2% respectively.
In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Independent candidate Rajnish Kumar defeated Bharatiya Janata Party's Arunesh Kumar by 12,119 votes.
