Punjab Election: Nihal Singhwala Assembly Constituency 2022

Nihal Singhwala is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Moga district. Punjab Assembly Election 2022 for Nihal Singhwala was held on February 20 and the result was declared on March 10.

In 2017, the Nihal Singhwala assembly seat had 1,92,373 registered voters. Of the, 1,03,177 were male and 89,196 were female voters. 0.5% of votes were casted for NOTA.

What happened last time

In the 2017 Punjab Legislative Assembly Election, there were 11 candidates in the fray from Nihal Singhwala constituency. Nihal Singhwala was one of 20 seats won by the Aam Aadmi Party. Aam Aadmi Party's Manjit Singh won the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Rajwinder Kaur by a margin of 27,574 votes.

94.4% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Aam Aadmi Party's Manjit Singh grabbed a total of 67,313 votes, while Indian National Congress's Rajwinder Kaur got 39,739 votes. Shiromani Akali Dal's candidate S.R. Kaler bagged 34,865 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 44.8%, 26.4% and 23.2% respectively.

In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Shiromani Akali Dal's Rajwinder Kaur outperformed Indian National Congress's Ajit Singh Shant by 591 votes.
