With many expectations, the Congress office opened at 8am when the counting of votes started, but by evening, most of the rooms were locked and only a few party workers and Gurvinder Singh Bali, vice-president and spokesman of PPCC, were present.

“The people of Punjab wanted change from the old parties and we could provide them with more facilities and better change. In Congress, if Navjot Singh Sidhu would have been made the CM face, we could have won more seats. Hence, people voted for AAP and we wish they fulfil all their poll promises so that people of Punjab can get what they deserve”, said Bali, adding that no celebrations were conducted and even the winning MLAs didn’t visit the office to meet the party workers. Also, the party had planned a meeting with MLAs on Friday, which later got cancelled due to its poor show.

A similar situation was seen at SAD’s office, where no party leader was present. SAD’s spokesman and vice president Arshdeep Singh Kler, said, “Most of the party leaders were at their home or constituencies and no one visited the party office. We are happily accepting people’s mandate, but no celebration was done at our office.”
