Raikot comes under the Ludhiana district and it is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Raikot voted for Punjab Assembly Election 2022 on February 20 and the results was declared on March 10.
In Punjab Assembly Election 2017, there were 1,50,417 registered voters for Raikot assembly seat, out of which 79,887 were male and 70,530 were female voters. 0.5% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In 2017, 7 candidates were contesting for Raikot assembly constituency seat. Raikot was one of 20 seats won by the Aam Aadmi Party. Aam Aadmi Party's Jagtar Singh Jagga Hissowal won the election by defeating Indian National Congress's Amar Singh by a margin of 10,614 votes.
98.2% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Aam Aadmi Party's Jagtar Singh Jagga Hissowal grabbed a total of 48,245 votes, while Indian National Congress's Amar Singh got 37,631 votes. Shiromani Akali Dal's candidate Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal bagged 29,019 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 41.2%, 32.2% and 24.8% respectively.
In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Gurcharan Singh beat Shiromani Akali Dal's Bikramjit Singh by 3,893 votes.
