Raja Sansi is the assembly constituency which comes under the Amritsar district. It is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Punjab Assembly Election 2022 for Raja Sansi was held on February 20 and the results was declared on March 10.
In Punjab Assembly Election 2017, there were 1,67,195 registered voters for Raja Sansi assembly seat, out of which 88,215 were male and 78,980 were female voters. 0.6% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In 2017, 10 candidates were contesting for Raja Sansi assembly constituency seat. Raja Sansi was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was a close contest with Indian National Congress's Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria winning the election upstaging Shiromani Akali Dal's Vir Singh Lopoke by a margin of just 5,727 votes.
The top three candidates split 96.7% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria got a total of 59,628 votes, while Shiromani Akali Dal's Vir Singh Lopoke secured 53,901 votes. Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Jagjot Singh Dhillon grabbed the third spot with 13,213 votes. The top three parties got 45.5%, 41.1% and 10.1% respectively.
In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria outperformed Shiromani Akali Dal's Vir Singh Lopoke by 1,084 votes.
