Indian National Congress's Rajinder Singh grabbed a total of 64,753 votes, while Shiromani Akali Dal's Surjit Singh Rakhra got 52,702 votes. Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Jagtar Singh Rajla bagged 28,884 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 43.7%, 35.6% and 19.5% respectively.
In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Shiromani Akali Dal's Surjit Singh Rakhra outperformed Indian National Congress's Raninder Singh by 6,930 votes.
