Sanour is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Patiala district. People of Sanour voted for Punjab Assembly Election 2022 on February 20 and the results was declared on March 10.
Sanour assembly constituency had 2,04,926 electors in 2017, out of which 1,08,632 were male voters and 96,294 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.4% votes.
In the 2017 Punjab Legislative Assembly Election, there were 18 candidates in the fray from Sanour constituency. Sanour was one of 15 seats won by the Shiromani Akali Dal. It was a close contest with Shiromani Akali Dal's Harinder Pal Singh Chandumajra winning the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Harinder Pal Singh Mann by a margin of just 4,870 votes.
89.0% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Shiromani Akali Dal's Harinder Pal Singh Chandumajra grabbed a total of 58,867 votes, while Indian National Congress's Harinder Pal Singh Mann got 53,997 votes. Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Kuldeep Kaur Tohra bagged 33,179 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 35.9%, 32.9% and 20.2% respectively.
In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Lal Singh beat Shiromani Akali Dal's Tejinderpal Singh Sandhu by 3,907 votes.
