Punjab Election: Tarn Taran Assembly Constituency 2022

Tarn Taran is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Amritsar district. Punjab Assembly Election 2022 for Tarn Taran was held on February 20 and the result was declared on March 10.

In Punjab Assembly Election 2017, there were 1,83,576 registered voters for Tarn Taran assembly seat, out of which 96,730 were male and 86,846 were female voters. 0.5% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.

What happened last time

In the Punjab Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Tarn Taran constituency had 8 candidates for assembly seat contention. Tarn Taran was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Dr. Dharambir Agnihotri won the election by upstaging Shiromani Akali Dal's Harmeet Singh Sandhu by a margin of 14,629 votes.

The top three candidates split 97.1% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Dr. Dharambir Agnihotri got a total of 59,794 votes, while Shiromani Akali Dal's Harmeet Singh Sandhu secured 45,165 votes. Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Kartar Singh Pehalwan grabbed the third spot with 22,950 votes. The top three parties got 45.4%, 34.3% and 17.4% respectively.

In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Shiromani Akali Dal's Harmeet Singh Sandhu outperformed Indian National Congress's Dr.Dharambir Agnihotri by 4,621 votes.
