Tamil Nadu, Puducherry Results Highlights: AINRC wins 10 seats as BJP, DMK bag 5 each in Puducherry

The DMK won 47 out of the 74 seats for which results have been declared while the AIADMK bagged 22 and the Congress won two seats, latest update from the ECI showed.

BJP candidate Khushbu Sundar congratulated DMK's Dr Ezhilan to whom she lost the Thousand Lights constituency in Chennai. "I shall continue to work for the people and will stand by them," she tweeted.

BJP's national general secretary BL Santhosh thanked the people of Puducherry for the party's performance in the assembly elections.

Makkal Needhi Maiam leader Kamal Haasan conveyed his wishes to DMK leader MK Stalin. Haasan tweeted, "You are going to take charge as CM at a difficult time. My wishes for you to take TN to the path of growth."

Results were declared for 48 seats out of which the DMK has won 33 seats and the AIADMK bagged 11 seats, ECI' data showed.

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan congratulated MK Stalin for his victory in the TN assembly elections.

National women's wing president of the BJP and the party's candidate for Coimbatore South Vanathi Srinivasan thanked the people of the constituency and the party leadership. "We have won!" she tweeted.

The All India NR Congress wins in 10 seats out of the 22 for which results have been declared, while the BJP and DMK secures three seats each. Congress won in two seats, ECI's data showed.

The DMK has won 6 seats while the AIADMK won 5 out of the 12 seats for which results have been declared in TN, with Congress winning the remaining seat. So far, the DMK is leading at 123 seats while the AIADMK is ahead at 67, ECI's data at 8.55pm showed.

The All India NR Congress won in nine out of the 20 seats for which results have been declared. The DMK and the BJP won in three seats each. Independent candidates also won in three seats while the Congress secured two seats.

Actor Rajinikanth wished DMK chief MK Stalin for winning the Tamil Nadu assembly polls.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi conveyed his wishes to alliance partner DMK's MK Stalin and said that "People of Tamil Nadu have voted for change and we will, under your leadership, prove to be a confident step in that direction."

Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot wished DMK leader MK Stalin and Tamil Nadu Congress president KS Alagiri for the coalition's performance in assembly polls.

The AINRC and its ally BJP won six and three seats respectively out of the 11 seats declared in Puducherry. The DMK and the Indian National Congress won one seat each as of 5.15pm.

The DMK is leading in 122 seats and the AIADMK is leading in 79 seats as of 5.15pm, data from the election commission shows. Meanwhile, the BJP has secured a lead in 3 constituencies.

Congress leader and MP Shashi Tharoor wished DMK leader MK Stalin. "Together we must stand for co-operative federalism & #InclusiveIndia," Tharoor tweeted.

Defence minister Rajnath Singh tweeted his wishes to DMK leader MK Stalin after the DMK's performance in the TN assembly polls.

Results for seven seats in Puducherry declared as the the All India NR Congress won four seats and ally BJP won two seats. Opposition DMK won 1 seat, as per the Election Commission's data.

The DMK is leading in 116 seats out of the 234 while the AIADMK is leading in 84 as of 3.15pm, data from the Election Commission of India shows.

Punjab MP and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal wished DMK chief MK Stalin for a "resounding victory" in the TN polls.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal congratulated DMK chief MK Stalin as the party is currently leading in 119 seats of the 234.

"Many congratulations to @mkstalin on a resounding victory in the Tamil Nadu assembly polls. I wish him a successful tenure and the very best in fulfilling the aspirations of people of Tamil Nadu," Kejriwal tweeted.

DMK supporters continue to celebrate outside the party headquarters in Chennai as official trends show the party leading on 118 seats so far. It is to be noted that the ECI has banned any and all victory procession amid the prevailing coronavirus disease (Covid-19) situation in the country.

TS Elangovan, DMK leader, said, "The cadres are simply jubilant. Our leader's advice to the cadres is that let them celebrate from their homes as Election Commission is taking serious note of any violation. We are a responsible political party."

Official trends show AIADMK's V Ramu leading from the Katpadi constituency, while DMK's Durai Murugan is trailing.

As per the Election Commission of India's update, the DMK has emerged with a massive lead in 118 seats, the halfway mark in Tamil Nadu, while the AIADMK is leading in 80 seats.
