The top three candidates split 91.0% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Hemlata Diwakar got a total of 1,29,887 votes, while Bahujan Samaj Party's Kalicharan Suman secured 64,591 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Upendra Singh grabbed the third spot with 31,312 votes. The top three parties got 52.4%, 26.0% and 12.6% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bahujan Samaj Party's Kali Charan Suman outperformed Samajwadi Party's Hemlata by 18,754 votes.
