Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Mohd Arif grabbed the third spot with 25,704 votes. The top three parties got 46.5%, 40.2% and 10.5% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Zafar Aalam outperformed Bharatiya Janata Party's Ashutosh Varshney by 23,086 votes.
