In Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2017, there were 3,91,992 registered voters for Allahabad South assembly seat, out of which 2,15,214 were male and 1,76,778 were female voters. 0.2% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In 2017, 21 candidates were contesting for Allahabad South assembly constituency seat. Allahabad South was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi won the election by defeating Samajwadi Party's Parvez Ahmad by a margin of 28,587 votes.
89.2% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi got a total of 93,011 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Parvez Ahmad got 64,424 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Masooq Khan grabbed 12,162 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 52.7%, 36.5% and 6.9% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Haji Parvej Ahmad (Tanki) outperformed Bahujan Samaj Party's Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi by 414 votes.
