84.5% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Sushil Kumar Shakya got a total of 93,502 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Narendra Singh Yadav got 52,995 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Arun Kumar Mishra grabbed 16,500 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 53.9%, 30.6% and 9.5% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Narendra Singh Yadav beat Jan Kranti Party(Rashtrawadi)'s Dr. Jitandra Singh Yadav by 18,971 votes.
