Aonla comes under the Bareilly district and it is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Aonla voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on February 14 and the result was declared on March 10.
Aonla assembly constituency had 2,98,111 electors in 2017, out of which 1,63,269 were male voters and 1,34,842 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.6% votes.
In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election, there were 7 candidates in the fray from Aonla constituency. Aonla was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a close contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Dharam Pal Singh winning the election upstaging Samajwadi Party's Sidhraj Singh by a margin of just 3,546 votes.
98.4% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Dharam Pal Singh grabbed a total of 63,165 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Sidhraj Singh got 59,619 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Agam Kumar Maurya bagged 54,192 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 35.1%, 33.1% and 30.1% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Dharm Pal Singh defeated Samajwadi Party's Mahipal Singh Yadav by 4,408 votes.
