Archana Gautam, beauty pageant winner who contested UP polls, got 1,519 votes

Archana joined the Congress last year and launched her political career by contesting the 2022 UP election from Meerut's Hastinapur seat.

Archana Gautam, the winner of the 2018 Miss Bikini Universe India pageant, contested the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls from Hastinapur on a Congress ticket but only managed to win 1,519 votes (0.66 per cent of total votes) in her debut election.

The seat was won by the BJP's Dinesh with more than 1.07 lakh votes, while Samajwadi Party candidate Yogesh Verma received 1 lakh votes.

Archana joined the Congress last year and launched her political career by contesting the 2022 UP election from Meerut's Hastinapur seat.

She took to Twitter on Friday to thank the people of Hastinapur for their ‘support’ and said that she will now try to win the trust of the people as well, after garnering their ‘love’.

Archana Gautam won the title of Miss Uttar Pradesh in 2014, after which she went on to become Miss Bikini India 2018, news agencies reported quoting the actor. She also represented India at Miss Cosmos World 2018, where she won the title of ‘Most Talent 2018’.

She made her Bollywood debut in 2015 with the film 'Great Grand Masti'. Since then, she has featured in several films, like 'Haseena Parker', 'Baaraat Company' and 'Junction Varanasi'.

The results of Assembly elections held in five states, including Uttar Pradesh, were declared on Thursday. The Bharatiya Janata Party swept to power in four - UP, UttaraKhand, Goa and Manipur, and the Aam Aadmi Party registered a landslide victory in the state of Punjab.

The BJP retained UP with 273 of 403 seats, Uttarakhand with 47 of 70 seats, and Manipur with 32 of 60 seats. In Goa, the party is one below the magic number of 21 but has a plan in place to form the government.

Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh took place in seven phases, beginning on February 10 and concluding on March 7. Uttarakhand and Goa voted on February 14, while Manipur went to polls on February 28 and March 5.
