Bharatiya Janata Party's Pooran Prakash grabbed a total of 88,411 votes, while Rashtriya Lok Dal's Niranjan Singh Dhangar got 75,203 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Premchand bagged 53,539 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 38.4%, 32.7% and 23.3% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Rashtriya Lok Dal's Pooran Prakash outperformed Bahujan Samaj Party's Chandrabhan Singh by 32,094 votes.
