Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Ram Sagar Akela bagged 26,011 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 47.1%, 34.0% and 13.7% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Jagram Paswan defeated Bharatiya Janata Party's Ramapati Shastri by 18,262 votes.
