Bara is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Allahabad district. People of Bara voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on February 27 and the result was declared on March 10.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2017, there were 3,20,578 registered voters for Bara assembly seat, out of which 1,75,340 were male and 1,45,238 were female voters. 0.7% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In 2017, 15 candidates were contesting for Bara assembly constituency seat. Bara was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Dr. Ajai Kumar won the election by defeating Samajwadi Party's Ajay by a margin of 34,053 votes.
The top three candidates split 86.0% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Dr. Ajai Kumar got a total of 79,209 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Ajay secured 45,156 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Ashok Kumar Gautam grabbed the third spot with 37,052 votes. The top three parties got 42.2%, 24.1% and 19.7% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Dr.Ajay Kumar defeated Bahujan Samaj Party's Bholanath Chaudhary by 3,756 votes.
