The top three candidates split 83.7% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Suresh Tiwari got a total of 61,996 votes, while Bahujan Samaj Party's Murli Manohar Jaiswal secured 50,280 votes. Samajwadi Party's candidate Purnendu Tiwari Urf P.D.Tiwari grabbed the third spot with 27,761 votes. The top three parties got 37.1%, 30.1% and 16.6% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Prem Prakash Singh defeated Bahujan Samaj Party's Renu Jaiswal by 11,776 votes.
