Uttar Pradesh Election: Basti Sadar Assembly Constituency 2022
Basti Sadar is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Basti district. People of Basti Sadar voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on March 3 and the results was declared on March 10.
Basti Sadar assembly constituency had 3,47,760 electors in 2017, out of which 1,88,151 were male voters and 1,59,609 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.3% votes.
In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election, there were 14 candidates in the fray from Basti Sadar constituency. Basti Sadar was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a one way contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Dayaram Chaudhary comfortably winning the election upstaging Samajwadi Party's Mahendra Nath Yadav by a huge margin of 42,594 votes.
The top three candidates split 93.6% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Dayaram Chaudhary got a total of 92,697 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Mahendra Nath Yadav secured 50,103 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Jitendra Kumar Alias Nandu Chaudhary grabbed the third spot with 49,538 votes. The top three parties got 45.1%, 24.4% and 24.1% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bahujan Samaj Party's Jeetendra Kumar defeated Indian National Congress's Abhishek Pal by 19,003 votes.
