Uttar Pradesh Election: Biswan Assembly Constituency 2022

Biswan is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Sitapur district. People of Biswan voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on February 23 and the result was declared on March 10.

In 2017, the Biswan assembly seat had 3,17,160 registered voters. Of the, 1,69,535 were male and 1,47,625 were female voters. 0.7% of votes were casted for NOTA.

What happened last time

In 2017, 10 candidates were contesting for Biswan assembly constituency seat. Biswan was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a close contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Mahendra Singh winning the election upstaging Samajwadi Party's Afzaal Kausar by a margin of just 10,235 votes.

96.7% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Mahendra Singh grabbed a total of 81,907 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Afzaal Kausar got 71,672 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Nirmal Verma bagged 65,040 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 36.2%, 31.7% and 28.8% respectively.

In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Rampal Yadav outperformed Bahujan Samaj Party's Nirmal Verma by 7,349 votes.
