Budhana is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Muzaffarnagar district. People of Budhana voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on February 10 and the result was declared on March 10.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2017, there were 3,59,132 registered voters for Budhana assembly seat, out of which 1,96,507 were male and 1,62,625 were female voters. 0.4% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election, there were 15 candidates in the fray from Budhana constituency. Budhana was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Umesh Malik won the election upstaging Samajwadi Party's Pramod Tyagi by a margin of 13,201 votes.
The top three candidates split 88.6% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Umesh Malik got a total of 97,781 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Pramod Tyagi secured 84,580 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Saeeda Begam grabbed the third spot with 30,034 votes. The top three parties got 40.8%, 35.3% and 12.5% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Nawazish Alam Khan beat Rashtriya Lok Dal's Rajpal Singh Baliyan by 10,588 votes.
