Chakia is the assembly constituency which comes under the Chandauli district. It is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 for Chakia will be held on March 7 and the result was declared on March 10.
Chakia assembly constituency had 3,65,214 electors in 2017, out of which 1,95,666 were male voters and 1,69,548 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.9% votes.
In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election, there were 10 candidates in the fray from Chakia constituency. Chakia was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Sharada Prasad won the election upstaging Bahujan Samaj Party's Jitendra Kumar by a margin of 20,063 votes.
96.1% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Sharada Prasad grabbed a total of 96,890 votes, while Bahujan Samaj Party's Jitendra Kumar got 76,827 votes. Samajwadi Party's candidate Poonam bagged 48,687 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 41.9%, 33.2% and 21.0% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Poonam defeated Bahujan Samaj Party's Jitendra Kumar by 8,682 votes.
