Charkhari is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Mahoba district. People of Charkhari voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on February 20 and the result was declared on March 10.
Charkhari assembly constituency had 3,22,414 electors in 2017, out of which 1,74,039 were male voters and 1,48,375 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.9% votes.
In the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Charkhari constituency had 11 candidates for assembly seat contention. Total 312 seats were won by the Bharatiya Janata Party, Charkhari was one of them. The election for Charkhari seat was comfortably won by Bharatiya Janata Party's Brijbhushan Rajpoot Alias Guddu Bhaiya defeating Samajwadi Party's Urmila Devi by a huge margin of 44,014 votes.
94.9% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Brijbhushan Rajpoot Alias Guddu Bhaiya grabbed a total of 98,360 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Urmila Devi got 54,346 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Jitendra Kumar Mishra bagged 47,408 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 46.6%, 25.8% and 22.5% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Uma Bharti outperformed Samajwadi Party's Kaptan Singh by 25,265 votes.
