Charthawal comes under the Muzaffarnagar district and it is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Charthawal voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on February 10 and the result was declared on March 10.
Charthawal assembly constituency had 3,14,327 electors in 2017, out of which 1,72,470 were male voters and 1,41,857 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.3% votes.
In the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Charthawal constituency had 10 candidates for assembly seat contention. Charthawal was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Vijay Kumar Kashyap won the election by upstaging Samajwadi Party's Mukesh Kumar Chaudhary by a margin of 23,231 votes.
91.6% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Vijay Kumar Kashyap grabbed a total of 82,046 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Mukesh Kumar Chaudhary got 58,815 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Noor Saleem Rana bagged 47,704 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 39.8%, 28.6% and 23.2% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bahujan Samaj Party's Noor Saleem Rana defeated Bharatiya Janata Party's Vijay Kumar by 12,706 votes.
