Chillupar is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Gorakhpur district. People of Chillupar voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on March 3 and the result was declared on March 10.
Chillupar assembly constituency had 4,31,447 electors in 2017, out of which 2,39,960 were male voters and 1,91,487 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.6% votes.
In 2017, 9 candidates were contesting for Chillupar assembly constituency seat. Chillupar was one of 19 seats won by the Bahujan Samaj Party. It was a close contest with Bahujan Samaj Party's Vinay Shankar Tiwari winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Rajesh Tripathi by a margin of just 3,359 votes.
95.7% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bahujan Samaj Party's Vinay Shankar Tiwari grabbed a total of 78,177 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Rajesh Tripathi got 74,818 votes. Samajwadi Party's candidate Ram Bhual Nishad bagged 55,422 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 35.9%, 34.4% and 25.4% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bahujan Samaj Party's Rajesh Tripathi defeated Samajwadi Party's C.P Chand by 13,913 votes.
