Uttar Pradesh Election: Chunar Assembly Constituency 2022

Chunar is the assembly constituency which comes under the Mirzapur district. It is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 for Chunar will be held on March 7 and the result was declared on March 10.

In 2017, the Chunar assembly seat had 3,35,536 registered voters. Of the, 1,76,687 were male and 1,58,849 were female voters. 0.8% of votes were casted for NOTA.

What happened last time

In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election, there were 12 candidates in the fray from Chunar constituency. Chunar was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a one way contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Anurag Singh comfortably winning the election upstaging Samajwadi Party's Jagtamba Singh Patel by a huge margin of 62,228 votes.

The top three candidates split 87.9% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Anurag Singh got a total of 1,05,608 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Jagtamba Singh Patel secured 43,380 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Anmol Singh grabbed the third spot with 39,067 votes. The top three parties got 49.3%, 20.3% and 18.3% respectively.

In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Jagatamba Singh defeated Bahujan Samaj Party's Ghanshyam by 20,708 votes.
