The FIR has been lodged at Sadar Kotwali police station of Kaushambi on Friday on the complaint of SHO Vinod Kumar Singh.

The SHO said counting of votes for Sirathu assembly constituency had to be stopped after allegations of anomalies on Thursday evening. Deputy CM Keshav Prasad’s son Yogesh had claimed that EVM display was showing more votes than recorded. Samajwadi Party candidate Pallavi Patel had also reached the counting site. Meanwhile, SP workers allegedly assembled outside the counting venue and clashed with BJP workers. The enraged workers pelted cops with stones and damaged vehicles besides attempting to break the gate of the venue. Some cops received injuries in the violence. Paramilitary force chased away the mob and restored order.

Singh said the unidentified persons were being tracked through available video footages. Police have raided homes of SP leaders and their offices as well as seized three motorcycles parked outside the counting place.
