81.7% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Samajwadi Party's Rakesh Pratap Singh grabbed a total of 77,915 votes, while Indian National Congress's Mohammad Nayeem got 51,496 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Vijay Kishor bagged 33,848 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 39.0%, 25.8% and 16.9% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Rakesh Pratap Singh outperformed Indian National Congress's Mohammad Nayeem by 503 votes.
