Gauriganj is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Sultanpur district. Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 for Gauriganj was held on February 27 and the results was declared on March 10.
In 2017, the Gauriganj assembly seat had 3,35,714 registered voters. Of the, 1,77,028 were male and 1,58,686 were female voters. 0.3% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Gauriganj constituency had 19 candidates for assembly seat contention. Gauriganj was one of 47 seats won by the Samajwadi Party. Samajwadi Party's Rakesh Pratap Singh won the election by upstaging Indian National Congress's Mohammad Nayeem by a margin of 26,419 votes.
81.7% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Samajwadi Party's Rakesh Pratap Singh grabbed a total of 77,915 votes, while Indian National Congress's Mohammad Nayeem got 51,496 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Vijay Kishor bagged 33,848 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 39.0%, 25.8% and 16.9% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Rakesh Pratap Singh outperformed Indian National Congress's Mohammad Nayeem by 503 votes.
