Ghazipur comes under the Ghazipur district and it is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Ghazipur voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on March 7 and the results was declared on March 10.
Ghazipur assembly constituency had 3,38,748 electors in 2017, out of which 1,83,803 were male voters and 1,54,945 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.4% votes.
In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election, there were 11 candidates in the fray from Ghazipur constituency. Ghazipur was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Sangeeta won the election upstaging Samajwadi Party's Rajesh Kushwaha by a margin of 32,607 votes.
97.4% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Sangeeta grabbed a total of 92,090 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Rajesh Kushwaha got 59,483 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Santosh Kumar bagged 54,987 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 43.4%, 28.0% and 25.9% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Vijay Kumar Mishra defeated Bahujan Samaj Party's Raj Kumar by 241 votes.
