Gopalpur is the assembly constituency which comes under the Azamgarh district. It is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 for Gopalpur was held on March 7 and the results was declared on March 10.
Gopalpur assembly constituency had 3,35,947 electors in 2017, out of which 1,86,972 were male voters and 1,48,975 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.5% votes.
In 2017, 11 candidates were contesting for Gopalpur assembly constituency seat. Gopalpur was one of 47 seats won by the Samajwadi Party. Samajwadi Party's Nafees Ahmad won the election by defeating Bharatiya Janata Party's Shrikrishna Pal by a margin of 14,960 votes.
96.5% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Samajwadi Party's Nafees Ahmad grabbed a total of 70,980 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Shrikrishna Pal got 56,020 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Kamla Prasad Yadav bagged 54,271 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 37.8%, 29.8% and 28.9% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Waseem Ahmad beat Bahujan Samaj Party's Kamla Prasad Yadav by 30,134 votes.
