Gorakhpur Rural comes under the Gorakhpur district and it is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Gorakhpur Rural voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on March 3 and the result was declared on March 10.
Gorakhpur Rural assembly constituency had 3,94,330 electors in 2017, out of which 2,17,519 were male voters and 1,76,811 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.4% votes.
In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election, there were 12 candidates in the fray from Gorakhpur Rural constituency. Gorakhpur Rural was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a close contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Bipin Singh winning the election upstaging Samajwadi Party's Vijay Bahadur Yadav by a margin of just 4,410 votes.
84.4% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Bipin Singh grabbed a total of 83,686 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Vijay Bahadur Yadav got 79,276 votes. Nirbal Indian Shoshit Hamara Aam Dal's candidate Sanjay Kumar bagged 34,901 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 35.7%, 33.8% and 14.9% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Vijay Bahadur Yadav beat Samajwadi Party's Jafar Amin Dakku by 16,985 votes.
