Hargaon comes under the Sitapur district and it is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Hargaon voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on February 23 and the result was declared on March 10.
In 2017, the Hargaon assembly seat had 3,10,159 registered voters. Of the, 1,65,723 were male and 1,44,436 were female voters. 0.7% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Hargaon constituency had 9 candidates for assembly seat contention. Total 312 seats were won by the Bharatiya Janata Party, Hargaon was one of them. The election for Hargaon seat was comfortably won by Bharatiya Janata Party's Suresh Rahi defeating Bahujan Samaj Party's Ramhet Bharti by a huge margin of 44,995 votes.
The top three candidates split 95.2% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Suresh Rahi got a total of 1,01,680 votes, while Bahujan Samaj Party's Ramhet Bharti secured 56,685 votes. Samajwadi Party's candidate Manoj Kumar Rajvanshi grabbed the third spot with 50,211 votes. The top three parties got 46.4%, 25.9% and 22.9% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bahujan Samaj Party's Ramhet Bharti beat Samajwadi Party's R.P Chowdhary by 12,149 votes.
