Jakhanian is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Ghazipur district. People of Jakhanian voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on March 7 and the results was declared on March 10.
Jakhanian assembly constituency had 3,99,432 electors in 2017, out of which 2,17,884 were male voters and 1,81,548 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.5% votes.
In the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Jakhanian constituency had 8 candidates for assembly seat contention. Jakhanian was one of 4 seats won by the Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party. It was a close contest with Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party's Triveni Ram winning the election upstaging Samajwadi Party's Gareeb by a margin of just 5,157 votes.
The top three candidates split 96.5% of votes between them. Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party's Triveni Ram got a total of 84,158 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Gareeb secured 79,001 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Sanjiv Kumar grabbed the third spot with 67,077 votes. The top three parties got 35.3%, 33.1% and 28.1% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Subba Ram beat Bahujan Samaj Party's Vijay Kumar by 15,230 votes.
