Jalalabad comes under the Shahjahanpur district and it is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Jalalabad voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on February 14 and the result was declared on March 10.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2017, there were 3,42,328 registered voters for Jalalabad assembly seat, out of which 1,93,215 were male and 1,49,113 were female voters. 0.5% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election, there were 10 candidates in the fray from Jalalabad constituency. Jalalabad was one of 47 seats won by the Samajwadi Party. It was a close contest with Samajwadi Party's Sharadvir Singh winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Manoj Kashyap by a margin of just 9,297 votes.
The top three candidates split 96.6% of votes between them. Samajwadi Party's Sharadvir Singh got a total of 75,326 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Manoj Kashyap secured 66,029 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Neeraj Kushwaha Maurya grabbed the third spot with 58,337 votes. The top three parties got 36.4%, 31.9% and 28.2% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bahujan Samaj Party's Neeraj Kushawaha outperformed Samajwadi Party's Sharad Vir Singh by 550 votes.
