Kannauj is the assembly constituency which comes under the Kannauj district. It is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 for Kannauj was held on February 20 and the results was declared on March 10.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2017, there were 3,85,541 registered voters for Kannauj assembly seat, out of which 2,11,340 were male and 1,74,201 were female voters. 0.4% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In 2017, 12 candidates were contesting for Kannauj assembly constituency seat. Kannauj was one of 47 seats won by the Samajwadi Party. It was a close contest with Samajwadi Party's Anil Kumar Dohare winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Banwari Lal Dohare by a margin of just 2,454 votes.
97.8% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Samajwadi Party's Anil Kumar Dohare grabbed a total of 99,635 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Banwari Lal Dohare got 97,181 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Anurag Singh bagged 44,182 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 40.4%, 39.4% and 17.9% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Anil Kumar Dohre outperformed Bahujan Samaj Party's Mahendra Nim Dohre by 45,682 votes.
