Uttar Pradesh Election: Kapilvastu Assembly Constituency 2022
Kapilvastu is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Siddharthnagar district. People of Kapilvastu voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on March 3 and the results was declared on March 10.
Kapilvastu assembly constituency had 4,30,633 electors in 2017, out of which 2,33,355 were male voters and 1,97,278 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.6% votes.
In 2017, 6 candidates were contesting for Kapilvastu assembly constituency seat. Kapilvastu was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Shyam Dhani won the election by defeating Samajwadi Party's Vijay Kumar by a margin of 38,154 votes.
The top three candidates split 97.7% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Shyam Dhani got a total of 1,14,082 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Vijay Kumar secured 75,928 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Chandra Bhan grabbed the third spot with 37,166 votes. The top three parties got 49.1%, 32.7% and 16.0% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Vijay Kumar beat Bharatiya Janata Party's Sri Ram Chauhan by 36,896 votes.
