Uttar Pradesh Election: Katehari Assembly Constituency 2022

Katehari is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Ambedkar Nagar district. Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 for Katehari will be held on March 3 and the result was declared on March 10.

In Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2017, there were 3,70,131 registered voters for Katehari assembly seat, out of which 1,98,255 were male and 1,71,876 were female voters. 0.6% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.

What happened last time

In 2017, 8 candidates were contesting for Katehari assembly constituency seat. Katehari was one of 19 seats won by the Bahujan Samaj Party. It was a close contest with Bahujan Samaj Party's Lal Ji Verma winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Awdhesh Kumar Dwivedi by a margin of just 6,287 votes.

The top three candidates split 89.6% of votes between them. Bahujan Samaj Party's Lal Ji Verma got a total of 84,358 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Awdhesh Kumar Dwivedi secured 78,071 votes. Samajwadi Party's candidate Jaishankar Pandey grabbed the third spot with 45,532 votes. The top three parties got 36.3%, 33.6% and 19.6% respectively.

In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Shankhalal Manjhi outperformed Bahujan Samaj Party's Lalji Verma by 17,620 votes.
