Katra comes under the Shahjahanpur district and it is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Katra voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on February 14 and the result was declared on March 10.
In 2017, the Katra assembly seat had 3,13,947 registered voters. Of the, 1,74,437 were male and 1,39,510 were female voters. 0.6% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Katra constituency had 13 candidates for assembly seat contention. Katra was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Veer Vikram Singh Prince won the election by upstaging Samajwadi Party's Rajesh Yadav by a margin of 16,730 votes.
The top three candidates split 96.1% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Veer Vikram Singh Prince got a total of 76,509 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Rajesh Yadav secured 59,779 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Adhiwakta Rajeev Kashyap grabbed the third spot with 47,471 votes. The top three parties got 40.0%, 31.3% and 24.8% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Rajesh Yadav outperformed Bahujan Samaj Party's Rajeev Kashyap by 875 votes.
