Bharatiya Janata Party's Krishna Paswan grabbed a total of 94,954 votes, while Indian National Congress's Om Prakash Gihar got 38,520 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Sunil Kumar bagged 38,359 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 52.5%, 21.3% and 21.2% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Krishna Paswan beat Bahujan Samaj Party's Murli Dhar by 18,922 votes.
